I was once complimented by a local who noticed that I had my PowerBook in a Porter-brand case, made by Yoshida & Co. of Tokyo.


“Oh!” she said. “You have Porter!”


“Yes,” I replied. “Yes I do have Porter.”


If you’ve got a PSP Go, you can now grab yourself some similarly thrilling random compliments by spending way too much money on one of the new, officially-sanctioned-by-Sony Porter PS Pictogram cases. There are two varieties available: One is a “pouch” made of durable synthetic material (pictured above, on that lass’s shoulder), which costs 7,350 yen. The other is a leather case that retails for a whopping 12,800 yen (£86/$141). At least it looks like it smells genuinely bovine:
